Best Time Stretch

In your opinion which program, plug-in, or machine produces the best, and most hi-fi time stretch [where time is stretched but tone remains the same (great for chops!)]

I use cool edit's, I think that it is 1000 times better than most time stretchers I've tried (mpc, fruity loops, others) It's fast and hi fi

The only thing is...
You can't stretch too far
You always have to reset settings when you change samples of different size so that the stretch sounds better
The compression (into shorter waves) is not as dependable as the stretch (into longer waves)

Cool edit's stretcher is pretty great but I wouldn't pass up on the oppurtunity to learn about even better, more hi-fi, more powerful, or even a faster time stretcher

i didnt have much luck with it- although that no reflection on cp...

sound forge is pretty darn good....

Sound Forge's time stretch is great..

Logic Audio's is pretty nice to use

I don't mean to steal a thread here, but what about timestretch that sounds "bad" in a really good way? My first machine that comes to mind is my S950. You stretch ANYTHING in that box and it sounds like a robotic metallic sound...PERFECT for what I make. Anyway, reply to this or not....just had to flip it and show the other side....

Not to dis anyone but Prosoniq TimeFactory can not be beat. I have tried every one on the market and I have yet to find one that beats it.

my 4k stretcher gets the job done

I don't have a problem with the timestretch in the 2000XL. You just gotta chop your samples up first or you'll be 80 years old before it's done. If you chop you samples, it doesn't take long at all.. and at any quality. I usually just got for the lowest quality since the sample may be like 0.00001 of a second long.. who's gonna tell the difference?

What exactly is Prosoniq TimeFactory, machine or program or plug-in? Guitman has me sort of sold.

@ roxstar = yeh, as I recall myself, 2000xl is kinda nice for real, I've used it with remarkable results but the problem is, as you noted, it is slow as hell, too slow. Worth the wait? I'm not too sure especially if there are others with better quality and much faster. Speed is definitely a factor I appreciate; production and experimenting together are hella time consuming; I can't waste time waiting for a timestretch!

I'm dying to hear about that Prosoniq.

I never use it much, but i think Ableton live is pretty decent at timestreching.

Get the Waves Transform Bundle Plug-Ins... They got a Plug-In called the SoundShifter... It is the best Time Stretch or Pitch Bender on the market... I've slowed things down to half their BPM with very little change (compared to other Time Stretchs)... The sound was a little choppy but with a little bit of doubling it sounded real good in the mix... And I've also shifted things up an octave with no change in timing whatsoever... Definitely purchase it if u wanna go legit and got a lot of cash (it's pricey)... If know go my route and download it on Kazaa (gotta do what you gotta do).
