Taboo Question: Music Production 101 for a noob

I know it is frowned upon, but hell no question is a dumb 1.

I am wondering, if you can just tell me the titles of pieces of information you established music creators/producers would recommend an individual who is looking to learn the basics.

such as bpm, signatures, etc.

I am having a hard time creating beat's due to my lack of this elementary knowledge and would like to learn the basic's to build a solid foundation to help myself learn how to produce music better.

If watching YouTube videos doesn't help you and you really have no understanding of how to make a simple beat in your MPC- you don't know how to set the BPM or what bars, sequences, and time signatures are and how they work, you are probably going to need hands on help, that is someone sitting down with you explaining the machine and how it works...Just my 2 cents.

yeah it may be helpful to learn things like:
-bars
-sequences
-truncate
-start point, end point, loop point, etc
-send, return
-pan
-also knowing a bit about notes helps (locations of c1, c2, c3, etc.. on a keyboard as well as what octaves are)


I think you just need to get some of the lingo down and you will find yourself having a much easier time reading documentation and understanding what is being talked about while trying to learn.

try 4 bars at 90, or 8 bars a 180, both with a 4/4 sig, 180 might be easier for you if you imagine the metronome as the hi hat clicking and just play to it, If you need TC then maybe set it 1/16th with swing percentage of 65 and see how that handles your drums

I understand how to use the MPC and move through menus, options, etc. but I need basic instruction on how to utilize samples within a beat.

time signatures,
tempo's,
etc.

but I am brand new to beat making and just need a crash course 101 on how to go about making beats, and a 101 on how to incorperate sample's into beat creation.
