Any ex Cool Edit Pro / Current Adobe Audition users?

wuts up guys, just wonderin... I bought Logic Pro (academic, 250$) thru school.. gotta learn that sh!t from scratch and aint really tryna deal with that if i dont have to.. Ive used C.E.P for AGES (stubborn, yeah) but Ive always loved the ease and my workflow with it etc.. (plus the filters, processing etc r f*ckin dope and i cant seem to find alot of the good effects on newer sh!t)

Anyways I just noticed they finally made Audition for MAC. and i can cop it at like 150$, got the trial version, just wondering how y'all feel about it in terms of comparison to other "next gen" DAWS.

ps if u didnt know, Adobe bought Cool Edit Pro from Syntrilium Softwares (i think) a long time ago, and turned it into Audition. Anyways, where my CEP Heads at???

I love audition, it's easy and yes, it has some really nice native effects. VERY easy to use. I use to use cool edit pro back in the day. Was introduced to it by a good dj homeboy.

i was a hard core cool edit pro user a few years back. i then made the decision to switch to audacity, and while it kind of drove me crazy at first, i eventually got on with it and i haven't looked back.

audacity fills in a few bread-and-butter editing gaps that logic does not.

however, lately i have been experimenting more with the internal editor in logic, and it does do some things pretty well.

i could never think of logic as replacing cool edit or audacity...two totally different things in my opinion.

i was using audition on my mac, for free, for 6 months. then my freebie expired. now i use audacity and while im used to it, its sucks in comparison. but im not gonna spend $350 to edit curses outta songs for my web radio show.

audition is 10x better than audacity.

but maybe you should give your DAW a shot?

ya, thx for al the input guys. but yeah I can get Audition for 150$ thru student discount.

still use CEP here. i dont mind audition but what i have found is it taxes the system alot harder than CEP. i learned a long time ago not to spend money just to have the latest. if CEP is handling your tasks and theres no real issues then dont worry about the upgrade. save your money or put it into hardware.

In past recent years man, people hear the word upgrade and damn near break their necks trying to get the latest "upgrades" when "usually" upgrades are not even relevant to most users daily needed functions or significant enough to make a huge and worthy impact. I feel the same as you on this one, I have a digi001 still alive and kickin, lol.

id love to cont using cep, wish there were a version for mac. and I've decided to just learn logic. figure i may as well since it also seems to be the 'standard' in my school program..

And I've been hounded by many people to ditch sony vegas and use protools because it's the standard, lol.
I like Vegas though, since it was Vegas pro v1. .....and sound forge is my wave editor of choice.
