One bar loops

I have made a few beats recently that are 1 bar loops that surely sound dope but they're still boring at the same time.
While every sample and beat has it's own unique characteristics and that's why every method doesn't work on any beat, is there still any general tips on how to make one bars loop sound more interesting?

I think a one bar loop would drive me completely over the edge.

A single one bar loop never changes.
If you have to use one bar loops, copy it a few times and the make small changes to the copies. Then chain them together. Then you have some variation.

Using lots of one bar loops will be a lot more work than making a few 4 bar or 8 bar loops though.

good 1 bar loops can have that hypnotizing feeling. You just need 2 things to make this a really dope track:

1. A great MC with dope lyrics and a very own characteristic voice and flow.
2. Some dope scratches

I recall a lot of boom bap beats being based largely on 1 or 2 bar loops, but as peter said, with those two elements in place you may be able to pull it off. Without those two elements, listeners ears willl die quickly.

Yeah usually with maybe a second loop so you could have a chorus.

If it's more re-arranged chops or samples you make yourself, I like to just make a bunch in one scale or one key. Then I try to leave space in the loops to increase the chances of stuff slotting together later.

If I leave them sit for a while and come back later I almost feel like I'm sampling someone else and always do different stuff than when I first made them.

Can easily make it a four bar loop by adding a drum fill, or change the chops on the last one or two counts of that fourth bar. Adding stabs and track mutes can also change it up a little bit.

Good example Menco, one of my favorite Gang Starr tracks.
