Although I am younger than most of you (especially Lamps abacus using ass

) I do admit, chopping by ear gives a track a completely different feel than using waveform as a visual aid.
my first beat making equipment I purchased was the MPC500 (sold it and another piece to get the Maschine when it was new) and chopping samples by ear versus by waveform aid (like I do with Maschine now) was definitely a different and more engaging form of beat making in my humble opinion.
