your mpc w/ battery, kontact, reason, cubase all together

i heard of cats using their mpc's w/reason...but what about this combo? overkill?

well in most ways yes, casue all reason would be doing is acting as a synth. With cubase you would host all the vsts and rewire clients (ie Reason). Its not really overkill but i would just use reason with cubase, or just battery as a drum machine and use kontact as your sampler. If u need synths then add reason into the mix. It really comes down to what u want to do and what u realy on, samples, or live instumentation.

komtakt, battery and cubase is not overkill at all but instead of komtakt i would check out sampletank 2xxl or sonik synth. but it also depends on what "YOU" want to do just like binger said. i do not sample but if you do komtakt is better for you than sampletank or sonik synth. to be totally honest if you just make beats reason is all you need. if you have not brought this setup yet go to esoundz.com and check out sonic refills. sonic refills will make your reason setup into a very nice rompler. also, check out recycle for chopping your samples.

reason is a rather simple but complex app just get reason first with recycle first and learn these apps then add on. this is your best bet.

buying too much software or hardware at once is not the way to go. the learning curve will stop you creativity. get one piece at a time reason and recycle work hand in hand.

odds are he wont be buying any of these, since they are commonly found for free all over the internet.

Kontakt smashes Sampletank as a sampler, Sampletank is a great virtual rompler though.

i used to use kontakt and battery, in live, but now its all bout the reason 3.0.

I ain't checked that out yet, I know the NN-XT sampler in 2.5 was no joke though.

on the real, on thing nobody brought up is you can use CDXTRACT to convert any sample cd into nnxt format or kontact which is what i use it for...but you can convert these libraries to sampletank, soundfonts..i can't remember all of them. but that's some exclusive shit i'm saying right now. and if anyone wants to know more about it...just let me know.

i've been syncing up a raw track through my mp via cubase, rewired on a stereo track w/reason 2.5, along w/kontact&battery vst's...and i agree, that it does mess w/the learning curve. i think i just went hard w/it, 'cause my homeboy said to me "yo, just wait 2 years and learn some of this shit...and if you ain't bout it..go cop whatever keyboard you want"...and i gotta say, though there are pros and cons, there's alotta potential in that hardware/software marriage.

if your an mpc head then add battery into your mix.

its pretty much a drag and drop virtual mpc pad style sampler, that uses its host as the sequencer... super tight!!! 24bit




but personally i just sample everything into my mpc and chop. i like the sound and having everything on one disk at the end of my sesh.

..just to add to that. Battery also comes with about 4Gb of samples in WAV format. It takes a few minutes to convert the Battery WAVs into a MPC program.

Battery is all I use for sampled drums.

how r u converting the 24 bit files to 16 bit and then making kits out of them in a just a few minutes. i have batt 2 and was going to do it but it seems like a long process

The Battery library is only 16bit so its as simple as drag and drop using BlueBox.

it will solve at least 80% of all your conversion needs....alright don't quote the percentages, but it handles most needs. there's other converters out there, but without it's flexability it might be some trial and error, when you do your converts because it can reuse existing sounds, which are used in multiple sound programs...thus increasing the overall file size for the sound library you're converting. it's ill.
