Keyboard Recomendations...

Anyone know what kind of keyboard Scott Storch was usin in that video, or what kind of keyboard he, or any big producers use for their beats. I'm looking to pick up a keyboard since I don't have one.
I don't want something small and cheap, but don't know if I can really get something crazy and expensive. Anyone have any recomendations for keyboards? I want lots of nice sounds on it, and possibly able to create/expand the sounds on it as well.

I say go for the Triton....I couldn't download the video so I am not sure what he uses but I can bet he has a Triton or a Triton Rack somewhere....Sounds are great and you have room to expand....If Triton is your choice, stay away from the LE, it is HORRIBLE....But the Classic, Studio and Extreme are PERFECT!!!!

Then the keyboard is a Yamaha Motif (as stated by Elmacaco).

get a nice midi board as a keyboard interface.. use the mpc as a sequencer and load up on rack mounts of all your choice keyboards cuz there isnt any need for the sequencer in the keyboard considering that you use an mpc.

Motif ES rack is your go to choice....NO DOUBT ABOUT IT....!

what about the yamaha s90 its the motif es w/o the sequencer.

Don't know what it is with most of you hip hop boys buying wack keyboards. Get an analogue. Use samples if you want a "real" panpipe sound or whatever Most of that sh1ts just romplers.

Get an analogue. Ask elmacaco.

Agreed. Would also go a bit further.. Stop only buying what everyone else is buying period. You need secret weapons. You make Hip Hop on a MPC and Mofit and guess what - you sound like every other searching artist who is trying to make Hip Hop on a MPC and a Mofit. Okay, you could say the same about some (not all!) of my gear as it is cliché stuff but at least if you have a MS20 or whatever you are not calling up the same presets that everyone else is using in your Mofit (etc) or making your own sounds that are still based on the same ROM sounds..

Avoid cliché
Avoid the obvious
Avoid the route chosen by the masses
Avoid the easy
Avoid a whole load of other stuff that I cant be arse to think about as off to bed..

Naw, a lime would be way too small to fit on a cat's head. Besides, look thick the thing looks, a lime doesn't look like that when you remove the insides.

Yup. You can have the best keyboard out, but if you dont know how to play the keys, it will still sound wack. If you're good with the keys, you can get any keyboard and make it sound better than the rest.

You're throwing pearls before swine, most people hear don;t want to work that hard, dialing in presets and complaining about how they can;t get the sounds they want is their way. much easier, those that care to make their own sounds tend to dig through vinyl and use techniques in their samplers. Synthesis is yet another skill they don;t have time to learn, but many pro's I have met are just as lazy. Analog presents many other problems for these guys beyond that, stability, tuning, repair, midi if it's not around, etc. I think you really have to love analog to use it now a days, people don;t have to put up with the problems now, so unless you really love it the synth sounds in a motif will do. Now if they learned to synthesize on a triton or motif they would ave some power there, but most guys I come across just want to hammer something out quick. presets are the reason they but the keyboards mostly.
