song arrangement

do you people set down specific parts to your beats, like intro verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus outro?

if so, do you plan that out in making the beat, like do you say to yourself "this is the verse 1" or does it just kind of happen?

i have never had any concept of arrangement in my songs. i simply start on seq 1, and when i'm temporarily finished with that i start on seq 2 and keep going until i feel done. never have a set part for chorus, vs, whatever.

When i sample, i just make a sequence, then another sequence that is different. If they fit together, i may have them both be part of the verse. If they are different enough, one will become the hook, one will be the verse. Which ever one feels like which. I never have anything in mind. When it comes to software beats, that's alot different. I defineatly start with a verse section, make abunch of loops and arrange my verse section. Then i do the hook. But when i don't have control of composition, what ever happens happens.

It depends. If I'm working on something for an mc I arrange them hook and verse but I usually make each sequence slightly different and don't really concern myself about the vocal aspect of it.

as i think about it,all my sequences sound like verses....later i usually add something very subtle to make a chorus out of my original sequence.i think i might try a more contrasting verse,hook style to see wassup tho.




ps Nym...i think it was you that had a way to dump all unused samples once you complete a song/sequence for faster load time and saving memory.if it was can you hook a brotha up with the link....Yeah i tried search but could not locate it.

i usually start by just building one ill sequence. somewhere along the way i'll deviate and make other sequences. depends on the situation. then once i have 3-4 sequences i'll go to song mode and make a really basic arrangement. once i have that i start to analize it. make changes, drops, color sounds, scratches & fills, whatever you know? by the time it's all done i may have 10 - 20 sequences in a song. though some are very similar they are different at the same time. i don't have a set formula for making my tracks, i find that when i try to have a formula for this shyt i make predictable, same-ol-shyt type beats. I'd like to think of myself as a channel through which my music is made, like at the end i'm sayin "what just happened" and my crews say "you made that?!!!".

I always start with a sequence and I throw all my first thoughts into it. Usually it ends up being the chorus. I'll take out stuff, change rearrange to make up the verses and bridges. Outro's, I do those sometimes.

Breakdowns and fills are the same as the verses usually but I change the last bar all around.

I usually keep the same melody for the whole song and add strings or a piano melody over the main melody for the hook, that way people can remember it, but if it sounds too boring or repetitive I'll change the melody up for the course hook or bridge

i think a clearcut arrangement is a good idea for emcee stuff. i will start doing that.

i'm actually working on a beat in 6/8 time for an emcee. it's barebones sampled stuff, simple but pretty damn cool.
