For Khrysis' episode, he was extrmely lucky with the records he picked.
I thought he was going to make better beats. But, most baffled part for me was that he doesn't seem to know about any of those records. I mean, nothing wrong with it, but I was a bit surprised.

Lame these dudes going straight for the soul / funk / jazz sections then putting on the blindfold. Need to start making these dudes go to the dollar bins then blindfolding them.

Seriously, anyone can make heat with these records the last 10 or so guys have picked. It's kinda getting boring now. I mean I liked a few of the recent ones, no disrespect to the producers themselves, but c'mon son.

Or how about this as a compromise: you can let them go to whatever section they want, but then they can ONLY use the records they picked. No Maschine drum libraries. No pre-made bass patches. None of their already-owned records.

I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, none of this stuff will happen. It's the "show" part of our little show business. No one really cares, and the people who watch this don't even know what these guys are doing anyway. All they know is "hot beat".

Yeah, even I could flip the records they're picking and I'm not much of a sample flipper.

Dollar bin records only, no blindfold, but no other sounds allowed in the beat. See who knows their dollar bin records and can pull the different elements of a beat together with what records are in the bin that day. Might be cool

I think the reason why they're making the records so easy is to get views from the non producer heads / noobs just getting into sampling. The formula has been the same lately jazz/soul/funk records +15 minutes = Insta Dilla. Non record heads might not appreciate a kraut rock, Italian disco records turning into beats other than boom bap. More views get mass appeal some level of ad revenue on youtube. Looks like us average Joes can make our own youtube channel and do some proper sample flips off of the dollar bin.
