Man f*ck that shit, I hate this whole so-called "purist" mentality. Some of you don't know what it means to be a "purist". There is a difference from being a "purist" and being a "fanatic". I will sample drums from anywhere! If I hear drums on a hip hop or r&b record or whatever, I'm eating them shits as long as its in good taste. For example I would not eat Q-tips drums on "Give up the goods" because thats not in good taste, but I will eat the drums in the beginning to "distortion to static" freak em, and I bet you would be like "damn kid you got them drums rocking!" I will sample drum sounds from anywhere to get the job done. However I am a true "purist" I dig for drums just has hard as your favorite producer, but not because its "part of the rules" but because motherf*ker, I want to have as many drums as possible in my arsenal. No matter where they came from. You think your favorite producers weren't sampling from the "Strictly breaks" records??? You think they all had the Melvin Bliss and Honeydrippers 45's??? who cares? while you "stick to the rules" your favorite artist dont and are making careers at it.

yeah, i wouldent sample from another hip hop artist. and i wouldent even sample from another sample artist like an ambient techno dude. cause they took all that time to find thier sample and sample them, its like just taking thier finished project and using it, when you should really start out from scratch just like they did.
