What did you use to resample at 12 bit 26.04khz? The 2kxl? I didn't know it was capable of that. Try setting the resampling quality to high or medium. If resampling just makes the pitch lower, then its probably not doing a true resample operation. It should come out with the same pitch, and a loss of high frequencies (and aliasing if the quality is set to low).
The ringing sound is called aliasing. Its what makes the SP1200 sound so unique. I think the quality setting should reduce or get rid of that.
I don't have a 2kxl so these are all educated guesses... Really you just need to keep experimenting.
shit, i dont think the 2kxl can pitch up to 15 semitones, i know my 2500 can.. hm.. maybe i should just try pitching as high as the 2kxl can go? i think its 999 cents.
i used the resample feature in the 2kxl. sampling at the high or medium does get rid of aliasing, i'll post up the newer sounds when i get back home for the weekend. however, when i set the setting to high and medium at 12bit 26.04khz, i can barely even hear a difference before, and after resampling. i'lll post up some examples to get your guys opinions on the difference this weekend.
so aliasing is a sound that some people want? that ringy aesthetic? i just want to know how to replicate older vintage samplers with my 2kxl via processing and sampling/resampling technique, but from my experiments with the resample in the 2kxl, it ain't happening.
i know im not using vinyl which highly contributes to quality hiphop sounds, but i feel like resampling/processing samples from cd sources should still have some of that sound i'm looking for...
