i have another question: does anyone understand how resistor and capacitor filters work?
i heard that you can short wire the resistor to achieve less filtering.. but idk about the capacitor.
i bought an organ, and im trying to make it sound harsher! (its defenitely loud enoug hehe)

On the cassette deck distortion front, whats wrong with good old fashioned tape saturation (distortion)?

Just crank up the recording volume/ input to the cassette deck and run your drums/ samples through it as hot as you like. Use old grimy, low quality cassettes and re-record over them to reduce the clarity even further. Adds a fair degree of analog warmth to your samples without that horrible digital clipping noise.

What clint246clint explained above you can apply to your preamp or amp. All you have to do is overdrive the signal. Run it as hot as you can stand -- but be careful about blowing out your equipment.

hmm yea, but you cant change the gain, only the volume of the speakers..
