Break beats, and how to make them

Do you know what a break is?

Might want to start there...

sample break beats and layer other single hit drums over them.

Well, I mean I don't really KNOW what a break beat is, but from my understanding it's a break in the record or a loop that you loops overlayed with different sounds as well as other samples that you may want to use. After a certain loop is played a certain amount of times (or just once,) you drop another break in the same song and maybe loop that a couple times. At least, that's what I get from it.

Personally, I found it way more rewarding to learn how to program/play a break than to sample one. Don't get me wrong, drum loops are fun to play with but knowing how to play one will teach you much more in the long run.

Check the video I posted earlier and it will show you how to sequence a couple of different breakbeats, based on the type of music you are trying to make.

I totally forgot to watch that video man. I was skimming through the posts on here and got distracted and now I know more about drums lol. I don't have any of the skippy notes he was talking about, but at least that got me one step closer to understanding the languange Thanks man
