I enjoy doom's left-field tactics alot, he comes up with some interesting material.

them left field type artists are good to a point but it is very over done and some use it as an excuse for sloppy working claiming experimental.

That first beat wasnt bad. ABut the ninth wonder one was totally whack. I feel like all the drums can be off beat except the snare.

true except the one megaTON posted was not an unquantized beat I dont think... I think it was programmed, not a recorded sequence.

i think u can go either way and do something dope as lokng as u perfect it... i do quantized and unquantized and it works if u got respect for it and jus aint out to sound like the next dude... i do agree that it's gettin out of hand but for the most part it's keeping cats from sounding like mainstream garbage thats really a copy and paste thing... if u the OP like quantized drums then so be it... but i think its a way to break the mold... BUT that shit aint for everybody, lol

the whole style sounds wack to me. i know what the people are going for, but its just not my cup of tea at all

its the same thing as when you have a track and the snare is hittin' HARD THAN MUTHAF***A!! it throws the whole track off

in some cases i think it sounds good but most of the time i don't like it
flying lotus's drums are sometimes like that, and he can pull it off really well, but the reason it probably sounds bad most of the time is cause its just a producer hearing it and being like oh thats sick im gonna do that, and they dont do it cause the beat needs it... its sort of a trend among a certain group of producers these days, as if by doing it their music is on flylo and dillas level... just do your own shit

so if u guys dont like then you quantize every beat (drum wise) that you work on??? and then maybe add swing in the settings or no swing @ all

the first beat wasn't that bad to me.

the 9th beat sounded terrible cause of the snare being off.

just move the snare lil bit forward or backward, gives it a lean back flavor.
