just remember tho, just cause you have a couple sounds together, and you just want the bass or whatever, doesnt mean its a bad sample. sometimes the best samples come from experiementing and using what you thought wouldnt work.

just sayin....sometimes you speed up a sample with vocal,instrument,bass,even drums and it doesnt sound the same...once you layer other sounds in, its usable and you dont even need to remove a specific sound. ya know?

also dont forget about the vocal cut technique. stereo > mono phase invert....

i've also chopped inbetween sounds too. like, you have to really listen, but there are "breaks", you miss them if you just skimming for whole sections or loops. maybe you can piece together whole loop from differant parts throught the song.

yeah i read about the inversion thingy technique. waves cancelling each other out and sh!t. Sounded pretty complex but i just gotta keep f@cking with it til i know what sounds good and what doesn't.

You're damn right! The "inbetween" sounds are really cool. Its crazy what you can find if you carefully listen to the music and free your mind from the rhythmic of the song. Dont care about the tempo or something like a correct startpoint of an instrument. It can sound really cool if an instrument that original sustained in the song will cut short. Try every ms of a song to get samples and you'll find stuff for a whole LP.

but the trick is cutting in between vocals and the various sections that are breaks or break downs and transitions within the song.

also u could try some sample cds with musical loops that u can chop up so one sound pack is like a cd full of intros that u might find on a record

I have used melodyne, which can do polyphonic pitch analysis and essentially renders everything into midi events. It's great for tuning/time correcting vocals, etc., but taking out an entire vocal track is not a simple task, and you can hear that something is missing. It's a great program to work with, processes everything super fast and the interface is quick and easy after a few sessions. In that light, it looks like Hit 'n Mix may be more show than go.
