a lot of those programs on the hammerhead page are awesome
ts-404 cool groovebox synth
granulab is unrivaled in live playing granular synthesis

what options does stomper prodive under the "waveshaping" tab? Either way Im intriqued by a XOX Software Clone thats opening line is "can hit harder than any 909 sample" lol.

granulab looks way awesome, but im afraid it would max out my 233mhz machine pretty fast. Granular synthesis in general is way under rated and under used outside of glitchy electronic IMO.

i used to use granulab on a 166 (i think) all the time.
point is it works fine and wtf are you afraid of just do it.
its more linux style in that youd need to integrate it into your system modularly, but it is really great.

re: stomper - waveshaping usually = distortion. i dont remember exactly what it does.

or you could do like i did, get buzz, and forget everything else  (until i got my mpc)

afraid  yep when you maxed out the ram on those old machines you blew a gasket and had to replace a hose. I guess i just saw the disclaimer and thought whats the point of installing something that will lock up but ill check it out.

holy crap i just looked as jeskola buzz, how difficult would it be to set up you think? Im pretty proficient with windows 98 and setting up stuff from that era.. worth the trouble?

buzz is always worth it

be warned though - it has come a long way. the old versions were prone to crashing (buggy machines) and usually in ear-splitting ways.
also sometimes it could crash in a way that would render your files unusable.

most all of that has been addressed and due to the modular nature of buzz, it really benefits from a bigger and better computer.

a true gem of music instrument programming.

yeah thats what i gathered from my few minutes of reading. You think if i just make simple chains to generate a one shot sample It would be to bad CPU wise? Ive been looking for a good old school modular environment to make single shots with complete control, this looks like a prime candidate.
