Thats what my crewmate does, but with Acid 4.0, I'll lace up a beat in the mpc, and then he'll have me individualy play each part for 4 bars (or however long the loop is).... snare, kick, hats, bassline, vibes, horns, whatever... all individually, and then beatmap each section on it's own track in acid. Then he'll loop each piece for however long, and do all the mutes in there. That way it's all tracked and ready for vocals and cuts.
Pretty obvious stuff, but still... might be useful to some.
