hold the presses just some quick information the drums werent looped he said it in the scratch issue with him on the cover he was talking about the common joint before it was released and said that and i quote" u should hear the joint i did for common straight grimy underground. the shit is like the drums. straight loop drums, heavy and hard like beatnuts era shet. and the sample... i took this melodic sample and muffled that shit, straight filtered the sample. I mean who has filtered beats now? I took it back there. (question)so u just looped the drums? I mean i chopped them, but they sound very loopish.. i didnt chop them like marley marl chops. i dont want to give it away, i mean i'll tell u how i chopped them but i dont want to say it right there and points to the recorder. dont know if anybody read this but just wanted to add that since everybody is saying he looped them not here to argue with anyone just wanted to add something to the convo thanks :D

Heard them sh**s on that first John Legend single, again on Mobb Deep's last album, and some other so-so R & B joint a month or two back. There's like one or two more obvious ones off top I ain't thinkin of right now. Besides them drums been available on Drum Crazy for years before the Strictly Breaks joint. Imma have to check the-breaks.com see if they got the original info, sorry yall, I ain't no fanatical way-back DITC record collector dude. It's like the early 90's when erybody was rockin 'Impeach the president' drums complete with UBB crackles and all, just gets kinda old after the first few..............Oh, log on to www.phatdrumloops.com if you want them Kanye drums for free! And to the cat that made it seem like it's impossible to remake Kanye the Great's amazing beat, I think there are more than a few on this forum that could pull it off lovely.

Didn't say it was impossible to remake... I said none of y'all could've or did think of it first... So no sense in knockin it... Regardless of how simple it seems... None of you did it... So for something so simple how come 90 percent of the cats on this site couldn't make a beat half as nice... It's just common sense dude...

That is a st8 loop! Yea, he chopped it (Away from the rest of the song) but its a loop of a segment. I have that record. Kanye loops in clever ways sometimes so u might not get it 1st off but its a loop with layered drums over the top.

I think this is going a little besides the point tho....His whole stlye is built around sampling (Loops....Breaks...Hooks etc) so there is really no need for the heated debate

Its all good....Imma Kanye fan too.....After Rza, Alchemist & Jay Dee

L. Tombstone wrote:I disagree, a cool beat is a cool beat and that's that. I'd say at least 25% of the heads on this site could make a track twice as good. Not tryin to dis but you gotta be kiddin me with that 'you didn't think of it' bit. Yeah, and I got a lot of ideas that other cats ain't done, but because I'm not Kanye it's not as significant??? Bullsh**. Reminds me of some lame f*** I know that told me Pharrell hookin up 'Grindin' was pure genius  . S*** might as well just say 9th Wonder is the best of all time while I worship Primo for using swing on his tracks. I'm not easily impressed like these comical jockers. Seriously, nuff respect, but let's focus on what people are capable of instead 'Yall can't do _____' - just because Kanye is so great no one else could have thought of it. That don't apply over this way. Again nuff respect not trying to clown nobody.

You said it yourself... A cool beat is a cool beat... So my argument does apply... Kanye thought of a cool beat... In my eyes cooler than mosgt people on this site think or have have thought of... Yea you might of thought of sh*t that other people didn't think of... No it's not as significant because maybe it's not as hot as some of the ideas he's though of... Not because you're not famous...

Not knockin your skills or really you at all... Just debatin my argument...

And let me set another thing straight... I like good music... Ain't got sh*t to do with fame... I hated 50's two albums on Aftermath and those were two of the biggest albums recently... So I don't think in terms of fame... I think in terms of skill, originality, and creativity...

When did he do that beat a half-dozen times... Cats need to drop these pointless arguments...

man it is kinda funny how cats do hate on kanye,i mean yeah dude just loops his beats blah blah blah blah...... the only people who care about that are us his production peers so to speak, the majority of people who listen to his music don't no or care what record he sampled as long as they can shake their azz or get a head nod that's all that matters period.

In my humble opinion the beat is kind of boring. But I enjoy quite a bit of kanye's other beats.

Common is one of the best emcees I've ever heard on the mic. Maybe that has a lot to do with the track being good. Oh yeah...let me just say that I loved the filtering on the song "Find A Way" by A Tribe Called Quest.

"The Corner" sounds a lot better than most of the stuff I hear on the radio these days. Is Kanye West a "backpacker"??

He tries to act like he is but he isn't.And the only reason why the track is hot is because Common blessed it.When i hear the track i don't hear the beat.I hear Common and the Last Poets. In case ya'll forgot Common is one of the best of all times. And Matt noone's arguing but you it seems.Don't get mad because cats have a different opinion than you.
