period. herbie started out with miles davis. all of his dance music is sh!t music compared with his jazz stuff.

there are many musicians that in their heyday were AMAZING that have now turned to utter crap, whether it is due to weakly trying to stay "current" with musical trends or equipment.


example: have you seen any bob james performances where he is rockin a triton??? tonewise homeboy sounds like swizz beats! no emotion and very dissapointing...

yeah, Mwalker very elegantly squashed the beef. I was impressed, but yeah, herbie has jumped the shark.

Jumping the shark is a TV term which references Happy Days, after one episode where the Fonz jumped a shark with his motorcycle, the show was on it's way out.

Herbie tried to be cutting edge and such, but ever since Dis is sa drum you could hear that it was polished nonsense, good music technically, but not relevant, no feeling. the New standard was OK, cuz it's just him on a piano, but all this karma stuff and laptop shyt with a DJ scratching, it's just pieced together, it lacks the cohesion of his earlier work, and it is too much about throwing everything in the blender, and also herbie tries to take a back seat a lot of the time, he's an ill player, his bandmates aren't as good, homeboy needs to shine and drop those grooves he can drop. I think he would sound more modern if he stuck with a rhodes, or a piano, cuz jumping on the next technology all the time gives you a very shallow knowledge of your gear, so you can't really push any envelopes if ou expect a poor excuse for AI in the Karma and 5.1 surround sound at your concerts to fill the gap.

It was wild seeing people pour out of that show though. People can be great then lose it. Might be why we still love artists that die young, cuz they don't get a cxhance to fuc k it up.
