but tell me something....why record songs over the phone when you can spend a little extra time to email or even snail mail the vocals on a cd with cd quality? recording over the phone SUCKS!!!!! it'll sound terrible. there will be no bass in his voice and it'll take out all the warmth of the recording....
beleave it or not i have ok quality on his vocals on this cat, i just get the distortion from my music, you see i have to have enough volume so he can stay on beat. Im not looking for the so called phone effect. yo this cat aint got no computer no email, nothin(straight street). once i get this worked out i will be sure to post summthin for ya. 8)

you're wasting time trying to get a phone recording as a main voc, but have fun getting a migraine

YEah, I've seen recorders that do this, but i would love a box that has an input and output for the phone to keep them independant. That would be cool.

JaeOne3345 wrote:why dont you guys both acquire the same recording software, and then email or transfer recording sessions back to each other. really simple. i do this all the time with my friends when we work on skratch music. if you want the phone effect, it is extremely easy to achieve this with effects, eq, and filtering. Cool Edit/Adobe Audition have a telephone frequency preset in the program.

what? I thought he said his boy was in prison. guess it would make that little box a bit more cozy. now i got this wierd image of dude in a cell sittin behind his lappy while his cellmates jammin out on the motif.

No ....... he gave the example of that guy recording his album from prison & we all decided that his friend was in prison too. I think it would be even better if they were both in different prisons & could only record with a 10 minute call on a payphone once a week!!!

Aw man, a box with an input and output jack that hooks up to your phone would be sweet. You could ghetto it by tapping into an old phone, or cutting the wires to your cell phone's headset, but recording from a cell would suck. Wow, a phone that's your mic and headphones, play the beat into the input, record from the output, homie's got a album.

yo I got it working wit some gizmos from radio shack. It could be better, but its cool for know. I had to use 2 phones, one was rigged for him to hear the music through the landline, and the other to track his voice on my tascam 788. I had both phones hooked up to a double outlet then it was hooked into the wall socket I had 1 phone hooked up to my main out on the tascam 788,this brought the music straight into the phone using a pieace called a( telephone handset recording control).yo it was like being put on hold from a companywit the music in the back ground (he could hear it, problem 1 solved). I had the second line hookup to to my input phono on the tascam788 for recording. (recording solved). I had to tell him to start rapping then i put mysef on mute to minumize interference. yo once i get some sh*t recorded properly i will post it for those intrested.

I'd like to hear it. Seems like a lot of work. You could've just followed the walkman advice and have him give a cue when the song starts.

try using an answering machine.. get him to call it up and spit the lyrics.
