Slicing Zones

well it varies for me. because my chops are never perfect you know? i'd say you only have to go back a few hundred...not much at all. but use your ears. that seems to be the only way to do it. even if you zoom in, sometimes the waveform dosnt even show

It serves several purposes: One if you want to slow down the tempo of the sliced loop then you would want to add extra or extended the end so the loop wouldn`t sound choppy in the sequencer by adding 20 or 30 ms more.

Two if you want the tempo at the same speed or faster then you want to set the end margin to zero so the slices are exact like your slices in zone window. If you pick up MPC tutors 2xl beatmaking manual it will explain alot of things to use zoning.
