drum patterns

IMO: there's no such thing as a 'standard' drum pattern... a drum pattern is the drummer's 'musical expression'... it's based on a 'style'... you're basically asking people to describe they're individual style to you... i think you should focus more on coming up with your own style, as opposed to doing what most other people do... you have to keep experimenting until you find patterns that YOU like... listen carefully and judge yourself to determine whether or not the drum pattern fits the vibe of the song... i guess you could say the standard drum [or the most basic] pattern would be: one kick drum on beats one and three, one snare on beats two and four, while hitting the hihat on each 8th/16th note... hope that helps some...

Boom=808 bass drum---> Bass Drum set to "NOTE OFF" in Params but hold it down to complete sustain.
Tic= Snare or Ohat
Bah= 808 Bass Drum set to "NOTE OFF" in Params

I usually Custom Tailor a Beat to fit the sample though....Rawness comes from that and your own unique sound....Like you know right off the Bat when Timbaland, Dre, and Lil John's beats play...You just know.
And if somebody held a Piece to your head, Played a 5 second Cut and said "Who Dat?"...Like name that producer...You Sho Better know!!!
Jus Kiddin...that would take the fun out of it. But basically Listen to whats out there. Theres alot of Redundancy in the industry.

Drums are the beat...If your using a loop sample play your drums to your sample...If your using keys and other sample hits and such, play these to your drums. I use a combo of both.

This is a old topics bringing it back to life...but just wanted to know...do u guys use the same pattens or do u switch them up....i listen to alot of people shit and they all use simple ass drum patterns 90% of the time

Wouldn't it be easier and more precise, instead on MAKING people imagine how your beat would sound or sequence out, just post up your bar beat tick positions for a, say, 2 bar beat?

Or someone could make an excel chart and peeps can fill that out and SEE actually what others are talking about cause the boom kitty kat chicka boom bap imagining thing aint helping at all.

Just posting the ticks that are used in the 2 bar beat would be more user friendly and easier to emulate though.

truthfully...i tried some of them and i got them to work....it's really not hard to do it..because when hitting say kick...u have a feel for when the snar or another kick should be...well i did
