If the timbre (character) of the sound is changing as you play up and down the keyboard, it sounds like you dont have your filter keyboard tracking on.
with it off the filter allways stays at the same freq, so when you play higher/lower notes its cuts more or less, changing the tone as you play. with it on it'll follow the keyboard, so the timbre will stay consistent over the whole keyboard.

I know all about that.

But there are more variables then that in a synth of sufficient complexity.

How do you sample bass?

Like one note, how long do you sample it so if you hold the pad down it will loop correctly?

Are you talking bass samples off records?

I sample one bass note off old jazz records or old reggae 45's. They got some deep and heavy bass sounds. Then I 16 level them....

I use my Studio Electronics ATC-1 for most of my bass. It's always great to have a live Analog Module to make your bass. Always give's it a more of an Alive character...

i use both methods though @ the end of the day i prefer modules 4 the flexability

i know i know dont rub it in lol yea i know. for some reason i sold a few things in the past that I should have held onto. I actually still have the Keys of the 60's and 70's expansion board for it....anyways, yea i see them on ebay all the time. priced around $100-$130 which isnt much. i figured sometime down the road ill probably pick one up again. so you planning on gettin one?

That's what I was assuming. I just need to remember to save my drum and sample program before I set the auto chromatic function on.
