Beware of Compression

what are peoples thoughts on not compressing individual sounds but compressing the entire song during mixdown. Do most people do this and what kind of setting do you use?

I Send all my drums to a sub mix with a compressor over the bus,s i find that this levels the whole drum track out. You can still keep the drums coming out of the xl's outs then eq them ,then route them to your buss compressor.

Don't compress to much otherwise the track will start pumping to much.

Another important thing is

Compression and EQ will make your shit sound fat and tight. You always need compression on a drum track even if you have re sampled it with comression otherwise the sound will pop out of your speakers.

Always Compress the sound then add the eq.... this way whatever the compressor takes out of the sound you can add back with the eq at the end of the chain.
