It's funny you put it that way, cus I think the oversaturation of losers getting real gigs in the industry has actually come full circle, and now you have a backlash, where heads are actually coming to expect more game from a producer. I feel people want to see the envelope pushed, and we are in the midst of another pivotal point in hip-hop, and possibly music in general. My AIM is cobralah25.

and yo I just feel that people are worring about the art instead of the labels. It aint about the new jacks and computer producers that put expectations on us as producers, its about these big a$$ labels that dont understand the culture or the fans. They think in terms of #s not respect. If you create a buzz then they will notice you, but if not your just some other mutha**** that makes beats, you best not quit your dayjob. I think we should all help eachover and educate others and let them hear some good music. We are in the generation of biters so why dont we bite the good eras of hip hop. like 76-86 89-96. These years the culture just started and was innocent and humble. People just started to do it for fun and then it sparked an international phenomana. Mid 80s it hit a peak, then got oversaturated. Everyone thought they could rap and put out records. 90s came along and gangsta rap came for a minute, whent back to the roots with them old funky records like dre and nwa, then ushered in the era which I feel is the best one yet. You got the native tounges and that whole jazz fusion hip hop era. This was a very creative and expermintive era. people started doin some real creative ish. Real got back to sampling and just making bangers. That got oversaturated with labels tryin to "caputure" that sound, just like sylvia robinson when she decided to cash in on the culture with the sugar hill gang. Right now hip hop is being pimped and explotied through every media accross the world. Either through music, clothing, tv, radio, soda, liquor, hair products, cell phones, skittles... everyone is cashing in. I think that we ride this out for a while and it will die off and the real tru heads that are down will stay, and the rest will be all filtered out. History repeats itself. It will be like it was in the 80s, then 90s, now 2000s. But it remains underground and the acts that are catering to that have labels that see their demographic. Look at groups like little brother. ABB records actually supports their groups and pushes them right. So does Def Jux. and 7heads, and stones throw. They are sellin records to a dedicated fan base. All indie. So the real will rise and get dues the chumps will do commercials for LA Hair and Verizon. Let em. I LIKE THE COMPETITION!

trupor hit the nail on the head- too many people these days think they can get a daw some prefab loops and create a world beating tune and then they complain when they bogged down by all the technical issues and complain: 'i just wanna make tunes!'

well so do i but before i could play the guitar i had to learn how to...its the same with anything else....
