Master of Disappointment

i hate is say this but i do not think pete rock or who ever has a better ear than i have. period. my point being i have listen to and play music all my life. always had great equiment to listen to music. so, i am at the point where i think i could master my own music. maybe not as good as a pro but i think i can get decent results. another point is (again) i want to do everything on my demo. just say the song s*ck but the mix is nice or arrangement is nice i want the credit for everything. i may get a name for myself for arrangements and not a producer or engineer. the key is to get your foot into the door. the more trades you have the better your chances of getting your foot into the door. period.

IMHO, THE KEY TO SUCCESS IS THINK BIG. IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE DOING THIS PORTION OF YOUR PROJECT AND ANOTHER PERSON DOING SOMETHING ELSE ON YOUR PROJECT HOW MUCH OF THE PROJECT IS YOURS? NOT TO MUCH. WITH TECHNOLOGY THE WAY IT IS, IT IS BEST TO BE SELF RELIENT.

Well, that's just one way to look at it. That's all I can say. There can be too many cooks in the kitchen, and self-reliance is the best way to go, but I can't give feedback to MYSELF. Another key to success is to keep those you trust close to you also, no one can do this alone 100%. And, when did I make any claims that Pete Rock had a better ear than anyone? I was just citing him as an example of someone who, LIKE YOU, produces, arranges, and mixes everthing himself...but he has people he trusts to get some feedback on what he does. Jerry Staub has been his engineer for 13 years, sounds like a good relationship to me.

DaFunkDocta2004, i agree with you because when i am finished a project i do let the boys listen for feedback and do trust thier input (good, bad or indifferent). personally, i want to take responsiblity for the whole project. if it s*cks there is only one person to blame (me). i never said you said pete rock had a better ear than me. i do not even know who pete rock is. I DO NOT TAKE A BACK SEAT TO ANYONE. THE ONLY DIFFERENT BETWEEN AN ARTIST ON BILLBOARD AND MYSELF IS THAT THE ARTIST ON BILLBOARD FILLED A REQUIREMENT THAT I DID/COULD NOT. I QUESS I HAVE FAITH IN MY ABILITY (JUST LIKE EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE).
