Running samples thru Saturation/lo-fi/tape plug-ins before M

I was talking about the mastering stage where the L2's and L3's are targeted for. I did several pre-masters of a couple of bands albums for CD duplication and also master my own stuff. I never used the L2 or the L3 in a master, but I tried and compared them. They always lost pretty hard against other better limiters which preserve transients much better, especially if you push to commercial levels like -10 to -8 dB rms. Those better limiters results sound much nearer to the source material, only louder, and keep the transient intact... while L2 or 3's bury especially the drums in a pudding of farty sounding dry sauce... no life, no dynamics, no transient content.

Dude could have done googled it and found the product page with Trash (pay) AND Vinyl (free), but you had to show everyone here how knowledgeable you are. Big ups man, the internet wouldnt be the same without know-it alls like you.

Do you have insurance, or a car? I work in insurance, and you will not be covered. I would be pissed, but only at myself for being so stupid as to leave my keys in my car with the doors unlocked. Thats like leaving a briefcase full of money open on your doorstep every morning and expecting it to be there when you get home from work. STUPID!

And piracy protection? If someone writes a script that bypasses your security, you are a shitty developer who cant properly protect themselves. Even though I hate Avid/Digi, good luck running that shit cracked! (especially before PT9)

ahh, well I assumed you were using them the proper way. Honestly I have not put much time into those...

At first I did like truverb but after a bit of using it I started to ... dislike it. I dont know why, but something about it just didn't seem to work for most things I tried with it. Okay I am really into natural reverb so I often record stuff in strange locations using field recorders... but I am not nearly as picky as most might be because most of the time I am trying to make some odd sound anyways.

as for leaving your car unlocked... not sure about out west jonestown, but here you actually can get a ticket for parking your car leaving it unlocked or with the windows down enough to get an arm in to unlock it. I forget what they call that offense.... but that is pretty **** up haha.

Trueverb is really old.. one of the first reverb plugins ever.. no wonder not many people like it nowadays. It sounds pretty metalic, but was good for it's time..... for a plugin.

what I meant by "using them properly" was that I wasn't really thinking from a mastering perspective (ie: you mentioned you weren't a fan of them for that)

and yes... metallic, I did find that to be the case as well. Honestly, I didn't know they were so dated haha... I only ever had them from when I got myself a copy of the mercury collection.

I stopped that habbit, still demo new interesting legit releases and bought only the ones that I really need. Some Softube, McDSP, Massey, iZotope, PSP, Arturia, AAS, NI..

Being warez doesn't make software free. Having all those warezed Waves Mercury, iZotope, Soundtoys, Softube etc. plugins in your folders won't make you any better at crafting your sound.. on the contrary: having too much options to choose from will hinder you.

all i will say is **** software companies. waves is over priced as hell, but come on..they do sound damn good and are actually designed by people who have used them longer than pretty much any other plugin. they are an invaluable asset to mastering music to me. to each his own. and **** protools...fl studio is better

FL studio has been the industry standard all the way from kazaa to isohunt

I've got a few friends who make phenomenal stuff with Fruity. It's got a bad name round here, but it's a really useful piece of software... which I can't use anymore cause I've gone Mac.
