why cant ppl just dig for drums like before? jackin drums off of sumones album is wack IMO

Nahh... Evil Dee made the track which sounded just like JB's years ago... It never made it on to an album... When he came across the sample again he flipped it more and made the version you hear today... I very much doubt Evil Dee got the jump on JB before his track came out... Just a teeny far fetched....

far fetched???......actually both of evil dee's versions came out before jb's did.......just made the track and as soon as he did it he was amped up about it and told jay about it and they did it on the spot....why do you think cats asked just blaze about it as if he took the idea and ran with it?

What you just said has no point. If you found drum sounds on a record from 1978 and i found some from 2003, um whats the differences. Are you telling me 30 years from now people should still look for records from almost 50 years ago to get drums.

I'm sorry homes i can't agree wit ya. Samplin don't have no boundaries or no rules. You hear somethin', you like it, you get creative wit it...that's what samplin is. Whether it's some foreign ish, some platinum stuff, some old soul or jazz....samplin is samplin. I don't know where y'all think the "Rulebook" of sampling is, but if you find it let me know. Kanye took the drums off of Chronic 2001, Xxxplosive and that sounded phat.

You say find your own drums... Either way your sampling Homie. Whether you buy a sampling CD...in which they sampled....or you sample live drums from a record or CD...it dont matter...you still rippin it of someone else. Gettin Dre's Instrumental CD, or whatever.... Its still the same thing.

It's like you saying, You're goin to buy your own drum and record into a MIC so you can have your own drum hits.

All the greats do it. KW,Dre, Pete Rock,Dj P, they always sampling someone to make platinum hits.

The MPC is a sampler, so use it to sample, thats what it made for no matter what you sample.

I get my drums from old **** and psuchadelic rock records... You said it Pete Rock samples drums as well as Premo and many others...

However, they do not sample other producers.... Gettin creative wit someone elses production creativity is wack.. End of story...


I don't know how any of you hope to become great producers or anything if you have to jack other producers for drums... Come with something original...

Yes Pete Rock samples off other producers, no matter if its jazz, or drums off of old hip-hot tracks. He has make good creative stuff off other peoples work. No differance.

what amazes me is people think there is a difference between sampling off a 1st blue note 45 from '67, a platinum selling album from 2003 and a sample cd...there is no difference its all about getting sounds from other sources...doesn't matter what the source is (who really apart from an anal vinyl digger cares where that snare comes from, how many of your intended audience are gonna be anal vinyl diggers).....to say that sampling off a new record is wack but sampling from an old isn't is just crazy talk and has no logic...
