This is a dope thread, a lot of good ideas here. I have a few I'd like to share:

I do not attempt to create music unless I'm feeling creative: Forcing myself to start a new project when I am not in the mood to create ends up feeling robotic, I over analyze the technical aspects of what I am doing and basically do not enjoy myself at all. And since I do not believe in redoing a beat, the entire creation ends up as a wasted effort to me.

If you find yourself having a beat block?: Don't push it -- unless you are some how financially obligated to create music and have a career off of it, all you are doing is forcing yourself to stay in a sh*tty relationship at this point. I don't care if Kanye did "3 beats a day for 5 summers". He's him and you are you.

Do not forget how to listen to music: To some people who just start making beats, you need to remember that you can listen to music without it being an attentive listening for samples session. If there is something hot to sample, it'll happen unexpectedly. If you're more focused on what you're going to sample than vibing out and enjoying the record, your sh*t is probably going to sound boring and the process of making music will get equally as boring fast.

Peace

Good tips. I find that the beats that took me days to make, are not as good as the ones that took me a few minutes. I have the habit of over analyzing my work, but I think that can be a bad thing sometimes.

This took me 2 days to do.

This one took me close to an hour.

I actually like the second out of the 2.

I have to be in a mood to make certain beats too. It's weird, but some of you probably know what I'm talking about.
