Here's The Problem: the Music has NOT "E"volved it's "D"volved. Most of the best Artist have been all but Ban from major labels(Cormega, De la,
Gangstarr, Ras Kass, MF Doom). There's Not nearly enuff Diversity and every and So called "artist" Bite with immunity!! 90% of the Rapper on the majors Have no Personally or Passion for there Music ,there Just "Murder Death Kill"every single song on every album, No Creative Range at all! People are scared to say someone is wack! I you can't even pick up mixtape, almost every artist is a clone! Then, when you voice concern you're a "backpacker" How??

[quote="Skiggy"]The West Coast brung melodies to the game, before then East Coast ****** was rapping over beats and snippets and ****, Then the more mainstream East Coast as well as the South caught on and had more melodies in their music because thats what people wanna hear, why you think Jay-Z started getting West Coast and Timbaland beats? and what in the **** is wrong with a nice melody???????? no matter how much you complain boom bap is not about to come back and be platinum all over the radio and MTV it's just not gonna happen, so if you are in it for the money and fame then you should stop making boom bap, if your in it for the love keep loving the music you make, Hip-hop would be pretty lame if everybody made one type of music[/qu

The far majority of the Producer on this ain't got gold and Platinum Plaques on there wall and Probably never will!!
So go with what you know!!

I guess none of y'all heard of Harlem's own Teddy Riley pre-new jack swing. But me personally I'm a fan of sample based music some keyboard joints are aiight I cant front but it's like fast food meal to me it's just dont stick to the rib. Manny and all them is nice as hell but I'd rather hear some Extra-P, Buckwild, Diamond D type sh1t. It aint a matter of being stuck its a matter of tastes.

Damn, this again. Some people like 'keyboard' type tracks, but, it's really in the hands of people who sign checks. I have been complaining alot less since a) that plinkity plink sh!t ain't cutting it anymore, and even the whackest a&rs are asking for more intricate ish, and b) the sped-up soul is falling off a little, so we can get some samples where rappers aren't being drown out of the mix by chipmunks. It was ok, but a couple producers doing that is enough. That being said, please spread the word that the Motif sucks...even tho we know it's f ing fantastic. We have enough people with the goddamn motif making money in the industry right now, and those sounds are gonna play out quiker than the Korg Trinity...
Anyway, we at a good creative time right now, I feel. But it's always gonna be a hot new sound (or not-so hot, depending), and then people will hop on it and beat it till it's dead. And that was done already to my golden era as well: everyone started biting Beatminers, Pete Rock, and Primo. Do you want some more fake Primo beats from everyone, or can we get something new here? Speaking of which, where the f*%k is Primo when you need him? Dude is right, it ain't '94 no more. That was almost 11 years ago. Let's invent some new ish.

trupo i feel you on that motif thing BUT...

i think it depends on who's using it and what they do with it.

you know? yea, the sounds may be played out but maybe its how they're using it? how bout we be creative and find different ways to use the sounds and create something new?!

ya digg? and i want that damn motif :D

We all must do us but I'm in this game for the money. I already showed how much love this shyt and non of yall can never tell me any different no matter what kind of music I make or don't make. My goal could be to make musick for the next britney spears(who ever that may be) but nobody can tell me that's wrong. That's like when I grew up I would listen to music other than hip hop sometimes and had some white friends that put me on to new music. When I would play it my boys would think I was crazy. I love music period. I love, dre, I kurt kobain,I love premo, I love mobey, I love muddy waters, I love charlet church, ron isley and I love axel rose and I love who ever is great at what they do cause you can't get there with out some kind of talent, I love music periond cause from it all you learn something. One day I want to be able to past the gift to my kids but I want them to grow up with out restrictions of what's good or not. This business is about money. I make melodic music to get my dollars and that's not cause its hot right now its cause that's what music has been about period. The best music is melodic. Even when people jack samples its cause of the melody. I make r&b music too and its just right that I know about chords and minor and major keyz sig and what not. A lot of us aint got no hardware on the walls but I got a few dollars and few bills paid for because of the way I make music. I'm almost at the point I can eat off this with out a day job. To me that means than a source or vibe or grammy or what ever award!

How can the Motif be played out. The best sound on the motif are the accoustic sounds and how can those get played out they have been songs with them from the begining of time. I think if you only use one sound as your main lead then yea you could kill one sound but if some of yall learn about chords, counter point, harmanizing and havine a hook meldoy thats totally different that your main verse and so on youll always be able to use a keyboard even pass it day. The sounds on the motif might get better once what ever new keyboard come out but the motif strenths are the accoustics and you cant kill them sounds..........If you dont know how to really play the keys your really only scratch the surface with the thing. A quick question. After two albums are we tired of Alicia keys playing the damn piano! Hell no!

Nah nahh, don't get me wrong. The Motif is real dope. I'm saying, you got alot of suckers who can't play a keyboard riff at all, buying whatever the hot new keyboard is. If everybody buys the same ish, yes, itll get played out quick. And the piano is the piano, but if you had the same exact engineer micing and producing with the same exact outboard ish everytime a current artist played a piano in the studio, yes that sound would get played too. Or what if, everytime she played, it wasn't piano, but instead the same sitar patch on the Motif, over and over. You don't wanna hear the same sounds, and the more people buy something, the less important it is, unless it's a record or a movie ticket. That's good for Yamaha, but bad for music. Thats what happens w/ these keyboards. I think if you have more than one machine, and you like to keep it fresh and challenge yourself, you all good.
Of course it depends on who plays it, that's a given, but when people who don't even know about production know you are using a Triton, just from reading a magazine and listening to hot 97, well, you know the machine is never gonna give you your own sound. I was making a joke like, everyone should tell people their keyboard is whack, so people don't go overusing it. Would never work tho. **** it, I want a motif too, but you get my point.
Yo Keys, please do NOT applologize for wanting to make pop music. Some of the best writing goes on in big time music, whether it can sound corney or not. Go get that next Brittany or whatever, and make that money; you don't owe anybody an explanation for that. Did you hear that Destiny's Child joint that Rodney Jerkins did? Sick. All you cats who put a kick and a snare over a loop could learn something from these people you mistakenly point to as 'sellouts'. I used to think like that, and then I saw a whole world where dudes thought that buying an MPC and biting off of the RZA made them more talented than someone who wrote R&B songs from scratch. Something wrong there. That being said, I like anything that sounds hot. Politics is for senators, not producers.

Just dont listen to the radio or watch BET, and mixtapes ARE wack as fuk, your right, but i been bumpin the new Phil the Agony, and that Ed OG Pete Rock joint and i couldnt be happier. and i admit i picked up that Lil Wayne "Go DJ" offa iTunes, but i cant fuk with a whole album of that sh!t. Its single music, for the club, aint no thing to stress offa. Lets not forget this is a business, and right now De La aint gonna rack in enough for a moajor especially with that wack single.
