Ableton Live question

do you mean open another mix bus?
cause i have like two audios and two midi tracks that look like buses in one view and and in the session view ir just tell you wat they are like audio and midi on top of the channel

yeah if it starts off with 2 midi trax already open just use one of those.

i'm talking about the session view i think (where the tracks are vertical columns)

so with the simpler, yeah u might not have to 'chop' it really... just set the start/end points and decay and you can pick the right note out of the sample that way. as i said, the chromatic playing will be enabled automatically.

but yeah for some drum stuff you might actually want to chop in some other program and drag the slice wave files into 'impulse' (which is a sampling drum instrument a bit like mpc)

kool got it , one more thing how the hell you get the drums to sound like how you hit them on the keys or in time as you hit them, i tried to turn off the quantize but it still has a drag on the play back , do i have to set up the latency on the perference field?

it just i bang out a pattern and it doesnt sound like they way i bang'd it out, it has a drag,

fucit i just want to make my melodie's and transfer to my mpc and do everything there,

who do i save a melodie i have created and transfer it to the mpc, it has to be in wav form and it can't be big then 1.44mb's it has to fit on a floppy to transfer to the mpc, can you give me an idea on how to do this, thanks

Since my original response in this thread, I took my MPC+Live production to a whole new level. I purchased a Behringer ADA8000 AD/DA converter which is connected to my Pulsar II ADAT -- giving me 8 independent audio channels in Live. I run the four outputs of my MPC1000 and four outputs of my XV-5080 into the ADA8000. So now Live is my personal multitrack recorder. I can record eight tracks at once, plus add effects to the tracks in real-time. When I add the SPDIF and RCA inputs on my Pulsar II, that makes for 12 mono tracks! If I need more, I can always buy another ADA8000 since my Pulsar II has two ADAT inputs. Meanwhile, the Main Outs of all my outboard gear still goes into my analog mixer for when I don't feel like turning on the computer.

1. Why do you use Cubase Rewired to Abelton Live for vocals whats wrong just using Ableton? I have noticed Live overloads pretty easily though could you elaborate on the purpose of this. Thanks...

2. Okay all I have one more question that is likely to stomp some of you and it is quite wierd to me. I scanned the internet and found NO information on the cause of my current Ableton Live problem.

WHY HAVE ABLETON EFFECTS PRESETS DISAPPEARED!?

My setup is a iBook G3 OSX 10.3.9 running Ableton Live 4.0.1

I am using 2 or 3 other non Ableton VSTs also.

Well, what happend was I laid a few tracks using the ableton effects units and all was well I could see and try out the presets. Then I saved the seession opened later on and went to add more audio tracks. I added a few ableton effects like the compressor and the eq and went to audition the presets and *poof!* NOTHIN'! The werent there WHERE DID THEY GO?! I was nice to them! HONEST...

Okay peeps lets not have any jokes about the presets! Like the famous...

"You use presets, well thats your problem buddy!"
Okay a friend of mine told me that on the phone today. No, really can you all help me out with this thanks and I will answer what ever questions you all may have about the Akai MPC 2k 3k or 60 in exchange... Deal! LOL!

yep, i got a pulsar board. dont use it much anymore tho cos i have laptop now. but ive been thinking about picking up a fostex vc8 to use with it. would be cool to have the option but i've been working resticted to a couple of audio tracks for so long now im kinda used to it and not sure i really need more.. tho thinking about it, it would be cool to run my 1k through the pulsar dsp mixer and audio effects in abelton.

Live is Dope, I use it here and there for Loop based elements in my music (Pads, Filtered drum beats, etc) as well as beat matchiing fod DJ style mixing, but I haven't even scratched the surfacee on what it can totally do.
I have the PT version, but I gonna try and upgrade to 5 before 6 comes out.
since it's only $199 to do so.
