Isn't there a "detect tempo" on MPCs

Know the simplicity of music like bars and beats. Keep this in mind when your making your chops. Even for that matter when your sampling.

And for the rest...No matter how much this hurts me to say but, listen to what Antonym said and your off to a very good start.
