all a swing setting does is shrink the timing between notes, this is it.
here: X=Bass +=Snare
X--+--+--X--+--X
swing would do this to the track (just an approximation)
X--+-+--X-+-X
it shortens the time between the sounds so that they appear to "roll" together. The higher the swing value the faster it rolls to the next note.
ie i can play a sax solo at 88bpm in a 4/4, and it may sound like:
D(stop) C(stop) E(stop) like a scale being played, a distinct pause bewtween notes.,
swing would make it go like this
D--C-E and it would roll the notes together, instead of having the audible pause.
so if u want the drums to sound more like a live drummer, adjust the swing settings of the tracks, so that it appears the drummer is keeping the bass drum real tight and swinging the snare and hats (an example) the snares would "roll" into the next note, making them less harsh, and less mechanical sounding, combine some swing with the attack/delay on some hat's and u got a Swingin track.....[/color]
