One reason why I moved to the MPC was that it does not need a computer... at all.. why go back??

But if you're going to sit infront of a Computer anyway, why not just buy a feckin midi controller?? (MPK perhaps??? There's loads of midi/USB controllers out there..)

I got my MPC to get away from the computer also. Being on one all day at work, then making beats at home = a fat ass Blitzzd. I remember watching a bunch of Hellfire's videos and thinking FUK how does dude sit so still the whole time I gotta stand up to work, prob cause I sit down all day

I've always stood up to work but I'm getting crazy back ache these days. Hellfire's got the right idea.

This is what I always thought, again I've never used the Maschine, i'm more than happy with my MPC. But if I wanted VST's and loops and "scenes" I'd just use Ableton with a controller.

You're right about that...I actually feel ableton and maschine is redundant in my setup as opposed to mpc and maschine...but if I had to choose between the two ableton stays hands down

Using a generic MIDI controller with whatever software still requires you to stare at a computer screen and use the mouse. So the experience is not comparable at all. With Maschine, you don't have to touch the mouse/trackpad at all and you can even turn off the computer screen because you can do pretty much everything just from the controller.

Oh, allright. So that's the deal..
But does that not aply to any greater midi controller, once you have it programmed?
Is the Maschine pre- programmed?
Maybe I should just look into this.. Maybe I'll just leave it at that though.. to be honnest..
I'm still not too tempted...
But, having said that;
Maybe if I was using a software that I really really liked and didn't want to miss...
And if I didn't have my MPC... maybe...

Maschine's dedicated hardware has total integration with the Maschine software. The experience is more like using a standalone hardware and it does not feel like using software because the computer or the mouse doesn't have to be touched.The completely mouseless workflow makes all the difference. For example, you can browse and load samples/kits, view and edit waveforms, sample, slice, effect..etc. all from the hardware itself that gives you visual feedback of all parameters in the dual displays. Obviously it's not possible to just map or program many of those functions because of the nature of generic MIDI controllers. There is no MIDI controller out there that will give such total control of software and the dedicated controls like Maschine.

I don't know about the "new mpc" tag either. Maschine goes much more beyond just the MPCs. It takes the best aspects of various other classic hardware like the Machinedrum, Electribes, RM1X/RS7K..etc. as well as improving upon the non-linear session view matrix of Ableton Live and is very much a hands-on instrument of its own.

Except for tight midi sequencing for multiple midi devices, being a sequencer in it's own right and not having to turn your computer on.

electribe esx1 is heavily underated if the updated it so u could creat ur own mute group and turn off quantise off it would be a wrap

3 months ago I fell victim to the hype and bought a Maschine when I already had a MPC2500 w/JJOSXl and a MPC60II. This week I'm putting the Maschine up for sale. Moral of the story ?

There is no equipment that is right for everyone though, that's for sure.
