Sampling Do's and Dont's

ive been swayed lately

i run everything through my dj mixer, then through my desk to add reverb etc final eq'ing then to mp. signal noise ratio is important, but basically i try get it in as loud as i can.

i dont really give a **** what i sample anymore. i used to care. i try not to buy compilation albums, and keep original, but if i cant find a wax of something il try cassette then cd and finally youtube if im stuck or just bored.

mp3's i tend to run through cassette now though to gritty em up.

There's nothing better than finding an unknown, original, crackly break for me but I guess other people have other methods of constructing beats. There's nothing wrong with that. Sample what YOU want to sample...

It's always a surprise when their name catches your eye unexpectedly, like Purdie on a Cat Stevens record hahaha. He did a lot of ill shit. Wax Poetics Anthology Volume 1 has some dope interviews with Idris and Purdie and is well worth a look if you haven't peeped it. I think it's Volume 1 hahaha...

I mean if you really look on which records they are....you can randomly pick 10 drumbreaks out of the "300 breaks" set and don't have to wonder if 5 of them are played by Bernard, Steve, Harvey or Idris
