yeah i agree, at first i thought he was a typically bitter failed muso who had entered engineering...now i know much better and yeah the guy has caused me to spit coffee over my pc a number of times....from that first drum sound test....cracked me up!!

there were rumours as to who the band was as they were meant to be mainstream- im not sure they were but like to think the band was Nickelback:)

The lines are kinda foggy and it's already 4 pages long but f#ck it . I always considered myself a "producer" 'til I went to school for engineering . Then I learned that @ that point I was simply a kid who just made beats . I was blessed w/ the opportunity to learn from an engineer from the commercial break-through era . My teacher worked @ the Hit Factory for something like 15 years on projects like LL's 'Bad' and PE's 'Fear of a Black Planet' . He explained that to produce a good song the "producer" had to be fully engrained in the song . That his role was guiding and breathing life into the "product" . To be a good producer I think you have to understand every aspect of what it is your producing . Just being a beat maker is kinda like having all of the ingredients to make a fine cognac but not understanding the fermentation process . So I think everybody likes the idea of being beatmakers but few choose to be producers .

I've been in love with music since my mama was throwin all night house parties in our old apartment. I was a DJ from the 7th grade to the 12th grade, but I quit to go to school. I just got back into it about 6 months ago when I bought a cool amount of pre-produciton gear, (MPC2kXL, MPC60, DIGI002, Proteus2000, ProTools and Reason) True, not EVERYONE will become a SUPERSTAR producer, but that don't mean we all shouldn't try to.

Music is for EVERYBODY... Not just for those who went to school for music. Hell, there's a ton of you out there who probably went through 4-5 years of music school and the shit is still as weak as some of us who are just gettin started.

I think it's cool that more and more cats are comin on the scene with FL, Reason, etc. It makes for a more interesting mix of sounds, styles and expression. I mean after all, that's what this is all about right ?

To all the new producers out there:

Don't let ANYONE, especially people who pretend to be Dr. Dre on a message board, discourage you from doin ya thang. We ALL had to start somewhere and everyone has made some shit that sounds a little bit like someone else's at one time or anotha. Just cuz you use FL or Reason, don't mean ya shit ain'/can't be/won't be tight.
