best unknown producers?

Bronze Nazareth is dope, but Im not sure if he`s unknown or not, well his still great.


BTW. I think 9th is bit overrated, all he does is f*cks with pitched soul samples, but Im not sayin` that he´s music sucks he`s just overrated.

i don't like ant

he chooses good samples, but his drums are uninspired and all he does is loops the sample over and over and over

no demonstration of any ability past the early 90s if you ask me.

I couldn't disagree more. Ant is my favorite producer out, followed closely by Shadow and RJD2.

As mentioned already Rob The Viking is sick. The Draft Dodgers, Metty The Dert Merchant, Moka Only, Classified, Bookworm, Moes Eisley, Dusty Melo, Deceo Ellipsis are all dope.

let me back up a bit and actually get into this matter intellectually...

ant's not a BAD producer at all...he's just not my thing...lacks the whole virtuoso element that i think the best modern production has.

if he came out in the 90s, i'd love him. and i do nod my head to his tracks. i have all the atmosphere stuff, and have worn out the cds. great beats...but no progression...GREAT sample choice, but minimal chops.

what was that track...shrapnel. great beat. simplistic, beautiful. boom...boom boom...

my friend witness and i were talking about ant's production and production in general...he's more into ant than i am because ant is a "mood setter." builds a platform on which the emcee stands. this is a production style straight out of the 90s - meant for the ease of the rapper/focus ON the rapper.

i guess i'm more into production that can stand alone or at least takes a more forceable presence in the song, demanding as much attention as the emcee.

ant's a beatmaker...shadow, rjd2, etc are SONG makers.
for the record too, although not unknown, rza is incredible...for the 90s.

gotta love everything in the perspective of the age/intent of the art form...

Been tryin to tell y'all about P.O.S. for a while now. Good to hear he's catchin on. I saw him 2 years ago in N.C. He rocked the shyt out of this little bar. Did a bunch accapelle, Had ladies dancing on the bar (no joke).

BTW you know the girl on the cover of Ipecac Neat, the one next to him covered in blood, she sold me the cd after his set. We tried to get him to come puff w/ us around the corner, but we aren't cool so he declined. Homie is kind of paranoid acting, but dope none the less.

Daddy Kev, the Awol One albums and the Grouch project had some of the illest symphonic production to date. The man knows Hip-Hop.

Ricci Rucker, dude's got (scratch) production on lock, check out his latest album "Fuga". His technical skills are unmatched in my opinion.

Lazerbeak, both joints on POS' new album is dope. though i'm not much of a fan of POS himself.

Moss, another soulstrutter who's blowing up. That new joint off of the upcoming Ghostface lp is the shit!
