2.U Didn't Choose the Correct Drum Sound 2 Start Off with (What R U Tryin' U reach 4, Pick something closer 2 Ur Goal)

3.Ur trying MUCH MUCH 2 HARD (even if U Plan on soloing' the Sum Must Equal more than the Parts ......This is For A Song isnt it)

Not sure if tis was aimed at me or whatever, but I was just just using that as an example... What I'm sayin is I know you can get good drums with other equipment, but I was wondering if it was me or the equipment in this particular case... I wasn't sayin that "You can only get good drums with an Avalon"....

Nah it was just a blanket statement, but that is crazy overkil.

Over use of compression will make your drums sound liveless eg cos the loss of dynamics. I agree there are ways round that problem but in order to get a good whack in your samples I'd recommend layering anytime. Lots of engineers use this to liven or fatten a beat, like a putting a fat snare underneath a thin one in the chorus or puttin a piccolo one on an old 70ths sd
to get a bit of top. There's almost endless ways you can layer sounds and the good thing is you won't loose anything of the original sound like you do when
comp or limiting a sound

word but quaility gear used by the right cats that know how to use em, will always produce better results. but if u got skills u can use a berhinger compressor to get that shit knockin. Or just eq. I really never even use compression.

sheet, i got a 3K so i dont even have any problems with drums. just sample them shits straight of the vinyl, play with the filters, attack and decay, maybe layer something (usually a open hat over a snare), thats it.

yup thats all i really do. I barelly tweak my drums after they are in my shit. I usally sample them off vinly and eq on my djmixer to bring up the highs a lil to get the snare cracking and the bass a lil to make the bass drum kick harder.

Got a hardware and several software compressors but I only use them for vocals and the overall mix. Takes away from my creative time. Layering and EQ'ing does it for me.

want to make a snare hit harder without compression?
open it in an audio editor, and cut the tail off, normalise and boost from 250 upwards

spose thats true if it take you ages to mess with your compressor- most people know what they wanna achieve and quickly dial in the settings- hardly stifling creativity....

funny how the more pro orientated don't slag the more 'ghetto' producers but the 'ghetto' always slag the more pro orientated....

I just bought a mpc zip disk with drum sounds from timbaland....but i have found out that they are all in stereo...

so yesterday i was trying to make them mono in the mpc2ooxl....and i couldn't .....!!!!what in the world was i doing WRONG?? THE INFO WAS RIGHT THERE AND I JUST FOLLOWED THE PROMPTS.....BUT IT DID NOT HAPPEN.....

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.....
