Question for the beat..

I have a beat.. and it sounds good but i need that extra something. So im trying to do what premiere does and in the middle of the song he just has like the kicks breakdown or something. So how do i record that? Im just trying to figure out how to put it in there, like make it a chorus type thing.

Theres a few ways to do this. Create a new sequence... or copy your original seq. and [track mute] some sounds and create a "break down"... there are other ways too. Thats just a start.

we know absolutely nothing about ur production process... what do u use, do u track out ur beats? do u send em down to a tape recorder.. it would be a different thing... just.. tell us at least how did u do the beat? is it on a single track?

Really theres no proper way to do or place a break down.
Go with the flow and take parts out ,add parts or flip the sample .
I just posted a beat with a couple lil break downs in it. Not sure if its what your talkin bout, but give it a look.

record each instruemnt/drum on a different track.
get familiar with the track mute feature of yuor mpc

be creative with it

Skinny Doogins is right there is no rule any where that says u have to do it a certain, specific, traditional way. You just go with how YOU want it to be like. Forget about how other people did it thats how they did it. Where and how are YOU gunna put the breakdown like?? Let yourself be free when makin beats don't get too technical. PEACE.
