tryin to learn how to loop

ive been a drum machine keyboard type of producer for the longest.so want to spread my wings and learn how to loop samples and use them to make beats. the problem is i dont know how. i sampled this lil groove form this spanish cd and im tried to make it loop perfect in the sample edit , by triming it so it will loop perfect. i dont know how to do this. i cant seem to get it to loop right. i just need some tips on how to do this. from what i hear its extreamly easy to do, but i havent actually seen anyone do it b4,i learn good by watching. scince i dont have anybody to show me can someone explain real well how to do this? also when i finally learn how to do this how the heck do you get it to match a metronome to add other stuff? .........peace and love

I personally hate the loop function on the MPC. This is how I do it and I find it to be the easiest way. I am sure a lot of other people do it this way also. First sample your isht, then set the START point. I always leave a lil bit extra at the tail of the sample so there are no gaps. Set your sample to MONO in the parameters menu in the program window. Now just put your sample at the very begining of the sequence either in step edit or while recording. Go to the BPM field and then dial in till it loops perfect. Leaving a tail on there helps you hear when its looping right a lil better.

You need to go into trim and edit the sample. Sample two bars of a beat. Go into trim (shift + 5). Set the St: to the downbeat (first kick in the bar, the 1) and then goto End: hold shift + note varition slider. Find the end point. Use the data wheel to get up on the next 1 (begining or bar 3) and press open window to get a clean zero point. Now goto edit and "loop from start to end". Press do it. Goto LOOP (f2) on the trim screen. Turn LOOP:OFF to LOOP:ON and hold the pad down. Does it loop right? If so hit discard to get rid of the excess sample. Then turn loop off if you want.

Then you gotta find the BPMs of the sample. You can use timestrech in edit if you have an XL. Just press BPM and select how many beats the loop is. Change the new tempo to desired tempo. Or just note the BPMs. You can also turn loop on and loop from st, to end. And then go into the PARAMs to see what the BPMs are. By tuning it you increase/decrease bpms.
