i dont use a mpc- i use cool edit and fruity loops..still any advise?

This may not be the case in this situation, but sometimes you have just gotta move on... It may not be worth it.

^^ Word. Sometimes you just can't get samples to sound 100% the way you want. Gotta know when to move on, or just flip it how it is...

You can only cut the frequencies that are there

If that hat is stacked ontop of something else in the same freq range, you can either chop it and fade in/out, silence, or do the best thing and find something else

With a developed ear things that you can flip easy will stand out like a sore thumb (developed ear and experience knowing what you can and cannot do)
