fukk sample packs!!!!

i am so sick of seeing all these "producer drums" they are everywhere with pictures of the greats but i gaurantee none of it came from them ,they should be sued for makin $$$ off of trash sounds and a fake gimmick ,all you beginers stop usin this junk cause it aint helpin your sound!!! if you have to be a lazy producer at least sample some breaks from a cd or some shit ,hell maybe pay some dues and dig up some raw shit. if ive offended anyone...good,im sure some of you can agree with me(atleast the real ones) god damn cookie cutter beat makers!

95% are garbage (which is why I generally don't buy them ) but the other 5% can be very useful. I like all my sounds on seperate tracks so I tend to collect the shit I can't play or record like guitars, horns, strings etc. Basicall anything beyond what I can do myself I will look out for. I agree though, the packs with 3000 drum hits for $10 are usually awful.

Heres a funny story:

I knew a dude that bought an "Alchemist" drum sample kit.....I asked him to hit me with a couple of one shots. Hes all like, "naw man, These are Alchemist Drums, guy.." So I ended up finding them online and checking them out. Oh my god, they sounded like hot garbage @ 100+ degrees, man. Everytime I see him all I can say is...."Alchemist drums, guy!!!!!"

What pisses me off is when I go on eBay looking for a specific sampler or drum machine or something. Let's say I'm searching to see if anyone's put up an SP12. I just get three pages of sample CDs ad maybe one SP. I wish eBay would ban that shit.

Think of how many times those kits have traded hands and been sample and resampled.

It makes me wanna create another account and go and buy them all up and not pay...

Dude.....when it comes to Samplepacks I could write the book!
In the past 5 years I've bought/traded and ripped a lot of 'professional' sample packs.

Most times you are lucky if you can use 10% of the sounds so you need to spend some dollars to have any sort of decent library. Very hit or miss.

Despite the size of my library, I usually prefer to use drums that I chop myself. It's a bit more work but well worth the effort.

I'm not saying that I would never use a sound from a sample pack but it is good to learn how to chop drums yourself. (BTW...I use the MP for chopping musical samples but for breaks I use Recycle now).

If you still need some pre packed sounds you can get some ok samples for free from the various sample websites (google and you shall find).

Finally, the Loopmasters people have some decent samples for sale but they are pricey.

They do sound wack but if you know what you're doing you can make anything sound good. Most of those sounds are just what I describe as a template to take and manipulate so you can make it into the sound you want. Not many real producers and engineers use the sound exactly how it is. I like realistic and vintage sounding drums so as far as drum sounds that I havent sampled from actual drums, I take other samples and run them through vintage EQ's and compressors to get the sound I want and add some reverb and delay.

Yep. I just insert a minimal price of a few hundred bucks to get rid of them. It usually works.

worst part is... ebay knows about the samples disks and packs.....

I just wish they would change the caterogy from samplers/samples and give each their own category.

They are terrible espeacely the synth ones cos they are not sampled correctly..any one can do what they did..the waveforms are not even looped! Shame to be honest and yeah seeing those samples every time I search for a piece of gear is annoying...
I hate loopmasters cd's..lets all be the same and buy the same shit aimed at one style and create lame stuff with minimal effort..the generation of today
I have used some sounds from sample cd's (drum hits) and also some tricker things from old sample cd's like shaker loops which I keep meaning to record my own lol
