This Shyt Sucks....

Man... it's been bout a month since i've made a hot track.... used 2 just come easy to me... now it's like ill spend a hour on one, and after the hour is up, i'll be like, "Man... i ain't feelin this" and turn the MPC off... i've tried poppin some samples in and findin the melody and stuff.... tried listenin to beats to find some inspiration, but it just ain't workin....

I know we all get into beat slumps, but damn... this is whack.. what do ya'll do to renew the inspiration?

Nah just kiddin. i get those every couple of weeks. Youll get back into the swing of things. Just read more or get more info and music. Try new things

just keep turning ur mpc on man. it doesnt matter if ur making anything. its all practice.(unless u a pro) if u dont make anything then at least u tried . everytime u turn on the machine u learn and get ur skills up whether u know it or not.

I'm thinkin maybe if i could even get into tha mood to chop drums, then i could drop a beat after i drop da drums, i'll prolly have some inspiration... i don't know man.... but this is whack though...

I've allways said, if crack can't fix it, it aint broke.

Sample some odd ish. Like something you wouldn't even think of. Like a toothpaste commercial, or the sound of turning on your pc, or some 80's death metal or... just anything basically. And try to make something out of that.


Or you could always try to make a country song with your mpc....
Now that's a challenge!

I dunno, I throw away about 80% of the shizit I make anyway because I think its whack. Its good to be critical of your own work. However sometimes you just get burnt up. Using the same ole sounds, gear and what not. Sometimes you have to step away from the lab. Do something out of the routine. Or maybe colab with some other cats.

Make a couple of cheesy joke tunes, always does the trick for me.

if you use samples:

Go buy new records.
There are records that cant be fliped tight.I let out a record every now and then, buy new ones, and after a month ill pick it up, to get a fresh impression of things.Sometimes you dont automaticly notice a good sample,so you have to listen to the record again after some days, when you allready forgot 90% of it.

never ever throw your material away. that is the worst thing you could do. what does not sound good to you may sound good to someone else. plus, you could alway come back with new techinic that you have learn since you made that beat and dress it up. never ever throw your material away.
