nice way to get an electric guitar sound

i dont know if this works with all guitar samples...but it should.


if you play a guitar sound from your MPC into a stereo, turning up the volume on the MPC will make the guitar sample distort when it comes out the stereo speakers, and it will sound like an electric guitar


as i said i dont know if this will work with different samples as i've only used it with one, and it might only be the way my stereo is setup, but it sounds tight.


see i made a beat with the guitar in and when i was testing it out on different speakers, i had the volume up by accident which made it distort. but i've decided to replace the distorted guitar with the orginal one. there was something about the original guitar sound that i didn't like...it sounded bland and too much like the track "Burn" by Mobb Deep...but "electrifying" it has given it that lil extra thing i'm lookin for.

You can also sample at loud line in levels to get a distortion/overdrive effect as well. I usually sample my sounds as clean as possible so I can switch them up pre recording or post recording, but recording kicks at a loud volume and then limiting to keep the meters from clipping is a nice way to get some of that distortion also.
