FILTERING ?

i got the mpc 2000 xl and i was wondering if theres any way to fliter out certain sections in a sample. For example the way dj's fliter out the highs in a song and only leave the drums playing or vica versa where theyll take out the drums in a song like when they do blends etc...?

You can play around with the filter and the res levels but it wont give you what you are talking about........I hear the 4k has that type of power but not the 2k or 2kxl

~Recycle can help u out wit that! Recycle is $199.99! Better then spendin yur $$ on the mfc 42 filter module[which is aobut $300+] if u ask me. Recycle and any mpc is a deadly combo!

the 4k has killer filters dag, you might wanna check that out

just buy a DJ mixer with the filtering cutoff, and you'l be all set. The mpc4000 may have nice filters, but I wouldn't spend that much money on it for that reason alone. I'm waiting for the mpc4000 to drop in price.. maybe when it gets to $1200, I'll invest in one By that time, the mpc9000GTxl twin-turbo will be out. haha

they don't actually filter out the drums or highs completely. If you listen close you can still hear the kicks in the backgrounds- but all they are doing is cutting out the low range on the mixer to make the drums quieter and turning up the mids, high and may the the gain slightly dependant on the mix. Too leave just the drums they cut the high and mid's down.

to leave the drums its the opposite turn down the highs and mids. I don't have a 2000xl so I don't really know how much the filters do either of these things- but I thinks phatz already set you straight on that

If you have a sample with a big fat bassline in it you can turn your lowpass filter down below 10 and your resonant filter up to like 5 and just have the bass and it cuts out MOST of the high frequencies, kinda like the early black moon/ beatminerz type basslines.

you can never completely take out the drums or vocals. regardless what type of filter you got, you can just turn them down or alter their frequencies. not even the 4000 (overated) can do this.

I hear the twin turbo is going to help alot. I heard the mpc9000GTxl is going to have 24's. Can't you get the pads with black leather? Put some tint on that biotch and youll be makin beats fo sho.
