suggestions on bass.

hey, I am hoping you can help me out here.

Background = Dj'ing for 10 years (hip hop, experimental an scratching etc) I owned a 2k xl about 5 years back, never really had chance to get into it an I was so focused on scratching that I was just using it for quick beats to practice over. I ended up selling that an bought a 1k an a microkorg maybe 14 months ago, I totally got on well with them an I know the machines in an out, I now have a 2500 an all is going well but I don't know why I just told you all that.....anyway, my problem is, is that my Microkorg is getting a bit tiresome, I'd much rather have a HUGE library of bass sounds that I can edit to make them my own, I don't have much more space or money so I'm thinking software. I effectively have a midi keyboard if you count my microkorg, I have a mac book so I don't have any issues running programs. Maybe you can reccomend place to buy bass progs for the mpc an I don't have to spend much money. It's just when I watch beat making vids on youtube I see these people with software flicking through 100's bass sounds, going from a dub step bass to a 90's hip hop bass all seemingly in the same library.

Bro you can just google free bass sounds and find wav files and create your own folders with different sounds. You can also sample feedback from your turntables to create your own bass sounds as well. It's all about being creative.

yeah,have a folder saying bass in the 1k.fill it full of bass,and then layer(123or4) sounds at a time ad filter compress ect.bass drums ie 808 make great bass.play with the envelopes,attack release.synthesize your own bass.!!!!mpc is great for sequencing bass.bass,basss.the filter is your friend.................sample a bass sound

get a single cycle of a sine wave, triangle and square wave. set to loop, note on, adjust decay to your liking, and turn 16 levels tune on.

Having too much sounds is not always a good thing.
U can get better results if u have like 10 good bass sounds u know very well and create new bass sounds from there.
Compression, adsr and filtering/eqing can make a hell of a difference.

Say u a dj so guess u also have some vinyl. Getting bass samples from records and making them ur own is also a fun thing to do.

1.) Take a kick and put an LPF over it (sometimes it helps to link the filters as it creates a more powerful filter)
2.) Set the low pass to 10 or so
3.) Tweak the resonance of Filter 1.

You will get some weird ass bass sounds. I sat there for five minutes straight just pressing pads because the bass tickled my ears. As you tweak the resonance you will be able to hear different tones (sorta similar to the auto-chromatic feature) and they will be pretty bassy.

Get yourself one of those things with four to six strings. Play. Record. Voila, your bass is served.

maybe look into massive or trillion

get yourself a little midi keyboard or even a usb keyboard and make up some bass lines using plug ins or better stil tracking a decent synth to your computer
