Where to start?

My friend convinced me to purchase a MPC1000 and well though i like the concept of making these beats, Im curious on what is the best way to go about creating a masterpiece.

Is it best to start off with a bass line, then the hook, or vice versa.

It almost seems better to start with a hook and go from there, but even with the hook its hard to really mess with the hook when changing the tempo of the bass line and such.

Curious on how you guys plan things out when making beats.

its all up to you, how ever you want to start,everyone has there own way to make there beats ,i usually start with the drum and then a sample bassline or a sample, then maybe a synth sound.
