recording beats to cd kanye west style

I'm making beats at home but im ready to start tracking them. I need something portable and i dont have enough money for protools n a laptop. I was thinking bout TRACKING my beats on a portable mulittrack recorder like the Tascam 2488 ( only $1200 n u get 24 tracks at 24 bit quality )then jus taking it with me to a profesional studio for mixing . I know kanye west used a milti tracker to get his ideas down. Do any of yall use them ?

You can do that.If youre on the road the whole time(like kanye is), then the portable recorder is something nice to have.If you plan to keep going to a studio to mix your beats then the portable is the best solution.

You can always put a multi track program on the computer you are using now...It is a lot easier to bring around a data CD or an hotswap hard drive than it is bringing around a multi track recorder. It really shouldn't matter how Kayne records, it should be what makes sense for you. I needed the visual for editing and mixing, so software was the best choice. Software also comes with some nice extras(compressors, limiters, delays, reverbs...) that fill your voids until you get your cash up.

for $1000 you could get a decent laptop from hp/comqac and a m audio soundcard (moblepre) for $135. you are set. this will be your best investment in your studio.

If I record straight to a CD on a digital hard-disc recorder, can I keep the tracks seperate on the CD for mastering elsewhere?

If its a multitrack hard disc recorder, yeah. CDs only do stereo tracks.

CDs can do multi rack in Data Mode (you burn each track as .wav files for example)

Damn! Didnt know that. Im actually looking into one of those HHB Burn Its right now (already mixed songs back out of Digi001 into mixer and to the Burn It), but that would be a plus.

I'm either going for DPS16 or the BurnIt....we'll see.

the burnIt is a cd-burner, the DPS-16 is a multitrack recorder. I burn straight to cd.. no mixdown, etc cuz whoever buys the beat will have to get it tracked somewhere else. I use my vs-1880 for scratch vocals on my preview tracks. It lets the MC know how his voice will sound over the beat. I use the cd-burner to put the raw tracks on, and my burner in the computer to duplicate em.. one at a time!

yeah i got the burn it and i love it. I dont have the pro though. It is fly. I record ish from my muliti, ish from computer, mixtapes, mad shit. Really easy to use too.
