sup y'all
i've recently been making beats, but have less and less time to work on mixing. usually any mixes are done a few weeks later after coming up with a full song structure.
recently, i've just been doing a stereo bounce straight from my MP (onboard mix) thru my MOTU -> logic. then i have a beat to play to vocalists/friends or even just have as a reference. i've noticed, i really like the way these tracks sound (obviously the MP has a fat sound and onboard compression keeps things glued together). then just a few drops or a tag and done.
i have had some experience with mixing and interned at a studio for a year, so it's not that i *don't* want to mix things - i'd just prefer to wait until i get a vocalist or a project that a track can work for before i mix things down. my whole question is - does anybody have a good recommendation for a tape 4-track? i would be using it to 1) bounce reference tracks of beats/ideas 2) run certain synths (or sounds) thru to get some tape saturation -> back thru MOTU-> logic 3) to use for recording certain acoustic "solo" tracks then put into the computer to EQ.
i'm looking for a 4-track, but I don't necessarily *need* 4-tracks, if someone has a good alternative.
