Drum Layering

Does anyone know the concept of Layering Drums?

My concept of it is that you layer drums in order to create a sound that you couldn't otherwise have got without layering.
Seems like a ridiculous question tbh. Are you writing a thesis on the philosophy of beat making and why beat makers do what they do? Or have you just worded your question wrongly?

Nah Im asking if anyone knows how to Layer Drums....I want to buy the Production Suite book that talks about EQ and drums and drum layering...I was just wondering if anyone knows.

No offense but that was a pretty dumb answer because from what I get from your response you were basically trying to make me look stupid...I know that you layer drums to create a better sound, but how do you do it? Obviously you dont know so why even reply with a dumb answer of arrogance and ignorance?

It's just a matter of stacking sounds. Just layer them in program mode. It just takes some time and experimentation to find out what works to create a particular sound.

Drum layering = Production Techniques

So I've moved this thread for you.

I believe the drum layering PDF's/eBooks being offered by mpc-samples.com are actually extracts from the excellent Eddie Bazil book 'Art of Drum Layering' (PC Publishing, 2009) which I own and have right here. For those that do not know, Eddie Bazil aka Zukan runs the Samplecraze.com site and posts tutorials here occasionally. See those two stickies at the top of this forum.

I purchased my copy of the book from eBay last year, mainly out of curiosity and to learn some new techniques, besides I prefer to have a hard copy for my money! The book is also sold on Amazon.com I believe.

the best technique is to layer a snare under your kick, then put a kick under your snare, a cowbell over your hi hat and if your using any cymbals layer them up with the sound of a small mammal dying
